as data becomes the gold of the 21st century, the question of its location, control and security is more critical than ever. behind the word "digital sovereignty" lies a major strategic, economic, industrial and geopolitical challenge: can we, as a territory, as public and private players, really control our data and the infrastructures that host it?
today, a large majority of french data is hosted by american (amazon, microsoft, google) or asian hyperscalers. these cloud giants offer performance and ease... but at what price? legal dependence, geopolitical uncertainties, environmental impact, loss of control: the risks are very real.
faced with this reality, concrete, french and regional solutions are emerging. this round table highlights initiatives to regain digital control, through several models:
distributed sovereign cloud, based on the secure fragmentation of data and supported by regional datacenters,
on-premise hosting for total control,
hybrid or mutualized cloud, combining performance, security and local anchoring.
with concrete feedback from manufacturers, technology operators and public players, this session proposes to go beyond the rhetoric to explore what is already being done in grand est and in france to regain control of our critical infrastructures.
and above all: how can we reconcile sovereignty, performance, energy sobriety and competitiveness, in a world where ai, cybersecurity and digital transition demand ever more power?
