Born in 1980, married, one child

After his graduation from catholic high school Arnold-Jansen-Gymnasium and his military service, Roland Theis studied law and political science in Saarbrücken and Aix-en-Provence. During his studies and his legal internship, he already completed training modules in Brussels and Berlin and worked as a research assistant of professer Wolfgang Knies within the Commission for the determination of the financial needs of public broadcasters (Kommission zur Ermittlung des Finanzbedarfs der Rundfunkanstalten (KEF)).

After his second state examination, Roland Theis started to work for the board of managing directors of the Franco-German regional bank (Saarlandische Landesbank). As assistant of the president of the board of managing directors, he dealt with enterprise policy issues as well as economic policy issues relating to the Saarland and the markets treated by the Saar LB within the Greater Region and in France.

After the regional elections in 2009, Roland Theis became member of the Saarland parliament and spokesman of his parliamentary group for legal politics and later also for European politics and energy policy.

Since May 2017, he has been State Secretary for justice and Plenipotentiary for European Affairs of the Saarland.

Roland Theis is married and lives with his wife and his child in Illingen (Saarland).
