Pierre-Etienne Bindschedler, Chairman and CEO of the SOPREMA Group, is a visionary and committed French leader. Of Swiss origin, a graduate of HEC Lausanne, he joined the SOPREMA Group at the request of his grandfather and ended up buying the company from him in 1993. Despite a difficult start, due to the real estate crisis of 1993, he chose to work over the long term to improve industrial productivity and to invest heavily in R&D in order to stand out from competitors. 30 years later, Pierre-Etienne Bindschedler has made SOPREMA a leading company in its historical activity: waterproofing. SOPREMA has also become, under the impetus of its CEO, the key player in responsible solutions: green roofs, photovoltaic roofs, biosourced insulation or more recently, rainwater management. These activities today make the difference in a changing international market and the growth of the Group since 1993 confirms that SOPREMA has been able to respond to market developments but above all to customer expectations. Today, 115 years after its creation, the company whose head office is based in Strasbourg employs more than 10,000 employees in 90 countries, including 5,000 in France, with a turnover of 4.825 billion euros in 2022. The SOPREMA Group has grown and diversified around the world to become a key player in the building sector.
